To protect the climate and flora and fauna of our town, poet friends wrote poems calling for the protection of endangered trees.

         在街道上的时候,

                     他们就去上班。

他们对大自然没有耐心;

Threatened trees in Enger, Germany

Village Night

Gray, gray, from the frosty grass, insects are humming

South of the village, north of the village, no trace of strangers

Alone, I step out of my door - look across the wide fields

In the bright moon light, the buckwheat blossoms are like snow

A small city called En-ger  (恩歌 )

       1

These beautiful trees –

will they die in the city called "En-ger"?

Didn't the sky hear their cry,

                                their painful song?

The sky darkens,

the sun is covered by clouds,

and the trees tremble with fear.

The Buddha is crying,

Matsu is hiding outside in the rain,

Wandering from Galilee,

the prophet is squatting on the side of the road and is silent.

The wind is blowing to the four corners of the world.

It touches black waters.

It is talking to the sky and its stars.

But in "En-ger",

               it can't touch people's hearts.

The wind is getting stronger;

it is wailing, it is howling

its painful melody.

But in "En-ger",

             it can't touch people's hearts.

     2

In the city called "En-ger"

                           people are in a hurry.

The dazzling practical spirit

drives them, and haunts them.

They cannot sit still;

they work from morning to night.

When the sun’s rays appeared

       in their streets,

                           they went to work.

They are impatient with nature;

      they grudge it its eternity

and its life cycle,

repeated like a monk’s Buddha wheel.

When the peaceful people woke up, they were already sawing.

In order to build something, they must destroy.

They destroy living things and build dead things.

When the old trees fall down, they jubilate.

They do not know that everything is connected.

When you kill the trees,

the birds fly away into the darkness of night.

Night devours all the birds.

And then it devours you.

But they do not know.

They are obsessed by the dark demon.

They long for the end.

They do not know how near this end is.

       3

The birds repeat the cries and the groans

and the sobs of the falling trees.

The birds tell the grief of the falling trees to the stars.

The stars comfort those who can see through the darkness.

They comfort the owl and the bat.

And the owl and the bat comfort the other birds.

The other birds say to the fallen tree:

"You will be resurrected; we have your seed.

From your seed, a new tree will grow in ten thousand years. "

And the fallen tree smiles and start peacefully to decompose.

And the birds, shrouded in darkness

hide in the hole of eternal time.

But no bird tells the hasty humans

that their end has come.

Eine kleine Stadt namens Enger  (恩歌)

       1

                              die Herzen der Menschen.

Der Wind wird stärker;

er klagt, er heult

seine schmerzvolle Melodie.

Aber in Enger rührt er nicht

                            die Herzen der Menschen.

     2

In der Stadt namens Enger

                       sind die Menschen in Eile.

Der schillernde praktische Geist

treibt sie an und verfolgt sie.

Sie können nicht still sitzen;

sie arbeiten von morgens bis abends.

Als der Sonne Strahlen erschienen

             in ihren Straßen,

                               gingen sie zur Arbeit.

Sie haben keine Geduld mit der Natur;
